The Framework

Business Health
and Performance.

Every business runs on ten core drivers. How well those drivers are operating — individually and together — determines the health, security, and intelligence of the business as a whole. This is the framework we use to understand, measure, and improve the businesses we work with.

“We believe that a business is like a vehicle. How you build, develop and power your drivers determines your outcomes and your ability to make the journey you want to take.”

The reality of running a business

You are building something.
The world will not slow down for it.

You have so many challenges to navigate in modern business. The world keeps changing. Keeping up with it — while actually running the company — takes time, knowledge, and energy that are always in competition with each other.

Change is not always easy. But you know you want to build something successful. Something that creates genuine impact for your clients, your team, and yourself. Something sustainable. Something that works.

Technology is a lever that can help power your team, your systems, and your processes. But knowing where to start, and what to prioritise, is the question that stops most businesses moving forward.

The questions that matter
Where is the business genuinely strong — and where is it quietly underperforming?
Which areas, if improved, would create the most meaningful difference to how the business operates?
Are your systems, people, and processes aligned with where the business is trying to go?
What does a healthy, secure, and intelligent business actually look like — and how close is yours to it?
If you improved your weakest driver, what would change across the whole business?

The Business Health and Performance framework exists to answer these questions honestly — with specific, scored insight rather than general advice.

The concept

Your business
is a vehicle.

Every vehicle — from a motorbike to a commercial aircraft — is built from interconnected systems that must all function well for the whole to perform. An engine alone gets nowhere, and without a steering system getting where you want to go is unlikely. A chassis without brakes is dangerous. One failing component limits everything else.

A business is no different. The ten drivers of Business Health and Performance are the interconnected systems that power your business vehicle. They work together. When one is weak, it creates performance issues that impact across the others. When all are operating well, the business moves with purpose, security, and intelligence.

The goal is not perfection in every driver. The goal is a vehicle that is fit for the journey you want to take, and capable of evolving as the journey changes.

One interconnected system.

Your business will, in one way or another, be powered by all ten of these drivers. They interlock and work together to create motion for your business vehicle. How well you build, develop, and power each one determines your overall Business Health and Performance Score.

Business Maturity Levels

Where is your business
on its journey?

Your Business Health and Performance Score maps to one of six maturity levels — each represented by a vehicle that reflects the speed, capability, and sophistication of the business at that stage. The goal is not to reach a particular level and stop. It is to understand where you are now, and what moving to the next level would actually require.

Learn About Momentum
Your Business Health and Performance Score

A number that means
something specific.

Your BHP Score is calculated from assessments across all ten drivers. It gives you a single, honest number that tells you where the business stands — not compared to a generic benchmark, but against the standard of a healthy, secure, and intelligent business.

The score is not about being perfect. A 62 does not mean the business is failing — it means the business is at the Developed level, with specific, identifiable areas to focus on to move toward Established. The value is in the specificity, not the number itself.

The score is recalculated annually for Momentum and Ascent clients, giving you a clear year-on-year picture of how the business has evolved — and what the next stage of the journey requires.
